As a pediatric speech-language pathologist, I know what it’s like to have a lot on your plate: paperwork, meetings, paperwork, large caseloads… oh, and did I mention paperwork? The logistical demands of the profession are growing, thereby sadly leaving very little time to stay on top of the theoretical framework of new therapy techniques and cutting-edge developments in research. Brainy Bits Blog was created to provide busy professionals with easy-to-read bits of the latest research so that we can maximize the language abilities of the children we love and adore.
Since 2004, I have been fortunate enough to have gained experience as an SLP in a number of different settings and locations spanning from San Diego to Switzerland. I have found my work with every single child to be exciting, enriching, and beyond rewarding. I have particularly enjoyed providing language-based therapy in interactive and multi-sensory modalities. I am passionate about language development, not only as an SLP, but also as a mom. When I am not chasing after my twins, I enjoy yoga, exploring new places, playing the ukulele, and pretending to be a kangaroo (Confused? Check out www.speecharooapps.com).
I hope you find this blog to be helpful! My goal is to ultimately make our work with our clients as effective as possible by promoting evidence-based practices. As far as lessening paperwork, I am in the process of figuring out a way to make it all disappear… stay tuned!!
